The "Arakurayama Sengen Park Sakura Matsuri" will not be held in 2026.

The "Arakurayama Sengen Park Sakura Matsuri" will not be held in 2026. In recent years, a rapid increase in tourism from inside and outside Japan has been causing serious disruptions in the local living environment. Ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment for our citizens is our first priority, and we intend to limit concentrated tourism and reduce the burden placed on local residents.

Implementing continuous safety measures.
Although the event is not held, a certain amount of visitors is still expected.
To secure safety and prevent congestion, area security guards will be stationed, and road closures, temporary parking areas and temporary toilet facilities will be implemented.

(Measure Enforcement Period) April 1st (Wed) to 17th (Fri) 2026. *Road closures until 19th (Sun).

*To all those considering visiting:
Severe congestion is expected on all roads in the area. Parking is limited. Please use public transportation, and maintain appopriate manners, such as refraining from entering private property and taking photos without permission. Also, please be aware that the viewing deck will have limited entrance time (5 minute rotation), and the waiting time is expected to be from 1 ~ 3 hours.
Every year, the “Hi-Ire” (controlled burning) is carried out in mid-April. Please note that on the day of the event, smoke may hang over Mt. Fuji and make it difficult to see clearly.

What is Hi-Ire?
An Onshirin Union event that used to be held every April involving 11 union groups from the area.  The burning of grass areas in the Kita-Fuji JSDF training grounds pormotes the growth of forests and acts as a union initiation event for the one city and two villages involved (Fujiyoshida, Oshino, Yamanakako) attended by 3000 people.
The use of public transportation is recommended during Cherry Blossom Season (Safety Measures Enforcement Period). Please refer to Seasonal Parking and Road Closures Information.
1. Vehicles are prohibited from approaching Arakurayama Sengen Park.
Due to heavy traffic congestion in the area, we request that visitors use public transportation.

From Tokyo by train
Shinjuku Station (Special Express Fuji Kaiyu 105 minutes) - Shimoyoshida Station (4 trains/day)
Shinjuku Station (Special Express 60 minutes) - Otsuki Station - (Fujikyuko Line 50 minutes) - Shimoyoshida Station.

From Tokyo by Highway Bus
-Bus Station Shinjuku (Busta) - (Chuo Expressway {Shinjuku ~ Fujigoko Line} 115 minutes) - Fujisan Station
-Tokyo Station - (Chuo Expressway {Tokyo ~ Fujigoko Line} 120 minutes) - Fujisan Station

From Osaka/Nagoya Area
-Mishima Station (Shizuoka) - (Highway Bus {Special Express} Mishima-Kawaguchiko Liner 80 minutes) - FujiQ Highland Station - (Fujukyuko Line 10 minutes) - Shimoyoshida Station.

2. Arakurayama Sengen Park No.1 Parking Lot (next to the park) will be unavailable for use.

-No.2 and 3 Parking Lot are open for use as usual, but are expected to be full every day.
-No.4 Parking Lot is limited to only motorcycles for the Sakura Season. Spaces are limited.
-There will be a temporary parking lot available, but due to heavy traffic congestion, it may be full and/or a long walk to the park. Therefore we recommend visitors use public transportation. (walk from temporary parking lot is 25 minutes.)
In order to help relieve crowding and traffic congestion, and for the safety of our visitors, we respecfully decline any journalism requests that may lead to the further increase of over-tourism. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
