A festival to pray for the safety of climbers
On the 1st of July, the "opening" of the mountain is declared before the great deity of Sengen at the Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine located at the starting point of Mt. Fuji Yoshida Trail during this historic and sacred event. Rituals are performed to pray for the safety of the climbers and overseers of the trail.
