A festival to announce the start of the Mt. Fuji climbing season
On June 30th, on the day prior to the "opening" of Mt. Fuji, the annual "Kaizan-zenyasai" festival is held in Fujiyoshida City. Fuji-ko parishioners parade with local citizens from Kanadorii Park to Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine. After their arrival at the shrine, the ceremony of the trail opening commences with a purification ritual.
